What a great idea. Get real women (2400 of them) to test beauty products, report back on them and publish the details of the ones that work. Beauty and health editors Josephine Fairley and Sarah Stacey got 240 panels of ten women to sort through beauty products, from skin brighteners to eyelash curlers, loose powders and hand creams, and The Handbag Beauty Bible brings it all together.
Last year the duo published the updated 21st Century Beauty Bible which, although comprehensive, was not necessarily portable. This handbag-sized version is perfect for epic beauty shopping trips. Looking good, after all, can be an expensive business, especially if you end up buying the wrong thing and leaving it sit, unused, in your bathroom cupboard.
In each section there is a selection of Top (ie expensive) Treats, relatively reasonable Beauty Steals and there’s also a daisy rating to indicate if natural ingredients are included. Josephine Fairley is also one of the founders of Green & Black’s Organic Fair Trade chocolate and owns an organic bakery so she has a strong focus on pure and natural beauty options.
It’s a fascinating read and it might even save you money – if you can just avoid the temptation to dash out immediately and buy all the recommended products! Worth splashing out on.
