Summer is the perfect time to kick off a healthy salad regime with Blazing Salads. The good news is, it’s not all salads. Blazing Salads contains delicious recipes for soups, stews, tasty dips and deserts.
I usually enjoy salad at least four times a week. I have a few favourites and I don’t tend to stray too far from these. Blazing Salads opened my eyes to a new world of whole foods. The Fitzmaurice family really know how to push the salad boundaries with some delicious ingredients. I’m not talking about rocket and a few anchovies. I’m talking orange, walnuts, beetroot and watercress.
My inner yogi was drooling at the thought of mixing beetroot and orange in the one dish. Beetroot – with its strong antioxidant properties – and orange, a refreshing zesty fruit, full of vitamin C. It was heaven, and the walnuts really topped it off. It was the perfect accompaniment to avocado rice cakes.
With June already here and the cold rainy weather still lingering you may want to think about casseroles and bakes. My favourite is the Blazing Salads Broccoli and Walnut bake. It’s hearty, healthy and full of flavour.
The salad section contains a few different dressings for you to keep up your sleeve. There’s the classic olive oil and balsamic and a very fragrant miso and mustard dressing which goes well with fresh spinach and grated carrot.
I found myself basing my weekly shopping list on Blazing Salads. It’s one of my most frequently used cookbooks.
Like the similarly titled film, there’s plenty here to make you smile and keep you happy.
