Vicky McCarthy doesn’t know who she is. Adopted as a baby, a fact revealed to her when she was twelve, she just never really fitted it. Finally her curiosity has got the better of her and she wants to trace her birth mother.

Meanwhile in work, the bosses son, Ed, has just started working for her. Vicky is convinced that he’s being groomed for her job as manager of Dublin toyshop Toys Galore. Sal, Vicky’s best friend thinks Ed is gorgeous and if Vicky’s not interested then Sal definitely is. But Vicky is going out with Marti, manager of an up- and-coming boy band, with a six-year-old son and complications of his own…

Avoiding going home to Cork and her adopted parents as much as possible, Vicky realises that maybe the life she leads isn’t the worst in the world.

Something Borrowed is Tina O’Reilly’s fourth novel. It’s a well-written and easy to read tale of loves lost and found. The Techie
