Seaman’s Point looks like heaven to any city dweller but to Eva Fitzgerald, who has spent the last four weeks there with two small children, it is a prison without bars. As her husband’s absences increase, due to the glamorous Sylvia, Eva’s drinking does too. When Eva discovers she’s pregnant it’s the last thing she needs and her desperation increases.

With the help of her supportive best friend, and many surprising new friends, Eva tries to come to terms with her husband’s infidelity, the pressures of motherhood and an unplanned pregnancy.

The Windbreaker Season is a good first effort. However, O’Mahony hops from character to character and everyone in this book has some personal crisis or drama going on in his/her life. I think the writer would be better off to focus on one character and one line of thought rather than jumping from place to place. There is far too much going on in the book – it even made this reader dizzy!.
