Penny Vincenzi first began writing when she was nine, selling her ‘stories’ for two old pence in school. Since then she has written eleven novels and each one has become a number one bestseller.

Jocasta, Clio and Martha met in 1985 as they were setting out on their gap year to go and discover the world. They clicked instantly and spent a few weeks together in Thailand. When the time came for them to go their separate ways, they vowed to organise a reunion in the future to share tales of their adventures.

It’s fifteen years later before they meet again. Their careers are going well but the same can’t be said for their relationships. Jocasta is a reporter for a tabloid newspaper and is in love with a commitment phobe, Clio is a doctor locked in an unhappy marriage and Martha, a hugely successful and highly paid lawyer, is single because she doesn’t have enough time for relationships. Then there’s Kate – the fifteen-year-old girl who was found abandoned as a baby in a cupboard in Heathrow Airport. Which one of these women is her mother and what made her walk away from her child?

Sheer Abandon tells the women’s story across the worlds of backpacking, politics and journalism. In true Vincenzi style the descriptions are spot on and you can picture the various settings with ease. It has been almost three years since Penny Vincenzi’s last novel and there is no doubt that it was worth the wait.

Sheer Abandon will undoubtedly follow its predecessors to the top of the bestseller charts. The Techie
